Stupid poetry, By Rachel Watson

This was a very short poem that I have done for my ENG 102 class for extra credit, and after I write it, I will show you how to write your very own poem like it. It's called a five-sense poem.

Heartbreak

The color of heartbreak is bright yellow.
It sounds like the tearing of a page.
Heartbreak has the salty, yet bitter taste of blood.
Heartbreak has the sharp smell of cilantro.
It looks like a train wreck.
It makes you feel worthless and melancholy.

To make your own:

Choose an abstraction, an emotion, an action, or anything you can write about. Use the formula to make the abstraction concrete and more tangible. The title is the abstraction you chose.

line 1: state the color of the abstraction.
line 2: state what the abstraction sounds like.
line 3: state what the abstraction tastes like.
line 4: state what the abstraction smells like.
line 5: state what the abstraction looks like.
line 6: state what the abstraction makes you feel like.
